IF YOU DON'T HAVE RULES WHAT'S THE POINT IN PLAYING THE GAME
WE HAVE NOT JUST MADE THESE RULES UP THEY HAVE BEEN HERE FOR TWO YEARS NOW
AND IT SEEMS ONLY A FEW TEAMS MESS UP WITH NO RESULTS I TELL YOU WHAT GEOFF YOU CAN HAVE MY JOB AND WAIT AROUND ALL WEEK FOR THE RESULTS

THERE IS MORE THAN ONE PLAYER ON A TEAM WHO CAN SEND A TEXT RESULT IN ?

Hi Malc,
I'm pleased to say that our Sportsman 'B' team seems to have discovered the recurring problem with the results not being texted in or received.
They have now realised that your telephone number had been copied into the captains book wrongly! We're all only human beings, people can make mistakes!
Therefore they did believe that they had texted the results in.
I noted that you agreed that there were "only a few" teams "messed up" by not sending in their results. So a polite reminder, instead of immediate punishment by forfeiting points might have brought this problem to their attention earlier without loss of points or demoralising the team.
Unfortunately, the captain has now resigned from the team because of this problem!

Just thought i would add to this discussion.

In the Winter League i am happy to re-instate points if a team can bring a copy of the text message (usually saved in sent items on a phone) and they sent the message before the deadline and to the correct number. There are times when networks can fail, but 99.9% of the time it is that a team or individual has not texted the result in.

For me, if a result is sent to the wrong number this is the teams problem, not the committee. because we cant physically insert the numbers in everyones phone for them - there is only so much hand holding that can be done by the committee before everything becomes a farce.
